Gouache

Sometimes described as an opaque watercolor, gouache seems to have the benefits of both watercolor and acrylic. I love how bold acrylic paints are, but I also love the fluidity of watercolors and control of opacity. Gouache allows you to control how opaque the layers are in a painting while also allowing for bold, vibrant colors. Gouache paints are very blendable, while also allowing you to layer new paint without mixing with layers below. It’s the newest medium I’ve learned, and I’ve really enjoyed it. I love using gouache to paint landscapes and animals!
